Enviro-Chem AG

Odour neutralisation in slurry, sludge and organic waste

Enviro-Chem AG is a specialised deodorising agent for liquid and solid waste resulting from organic decomposition. It acts on generated odours and helps limit the formation of new nuisances in environments rich in organic matter.

Unlike a simple masking fragrance, Enviro-Chem AG relies on contact action targeting odorous compounds linked to ammonia, H₂S, mercaptans and protein degradation processes.

How it works

Neutralisation of generated odours

Enviro-Chem AG helps neutralise odours already present in liquid or solid waste, particularly when sulphur, nitrogen and organic compounds are already expressed in the medium.

Preventive action against new odour formation

The product helps stabilise the biomass and limit protein and sulphide decomposition reactions responsible for generating new odorous nuisances.

Contact action

Effectiveness depends strongly on contact between the product and the mass being treated. Good mixing or well-distributed spraying is essential for homogeneous action.

Progressive effect

In installations already heavily loaded with untreated organic matter, several days may be needed before the deodorising effect becomes fully perceptible.

Target applications

  • Slurry and animal manure
  • Livestock buildings
  • Sewage treatment sludge
  • Septic tanks and slurry pits
  • Liquid or solid organic waste

Pig slurry and animal manure

Treatment in pit or after dilution. Direct contact with the mass to be treated. Dosage adjusted to estimated dry matter content.

Livestock buildings

Spray application on floors, litter or accumulated manure. Reduction of ammonia and H₂S emissions in building air.

Slurry pits and storage tanks

Application by injection or spray. Contact with the entire volume is necessary for uniform action.

Sewage treatment sludge

Treatment of primary or secondary sludge. Indicative dose of 1 L per tonne of dry solids, adjusted to organic load.

Liquid or solid organic waste

Collection pits, slaughterhouse waste, food-industry effluents. The product acts on odorous compounds from protein fermentation.

Septic tanks

Treatment of high-organic-load effluents. Reduction of odours emitted during agitation or transport.

Situations with NH₃, H₂S, mercaptans or decomposition odours

Action spectrum covers the main organic odour compounds. Results to be assessed on site based on initial load.

Indicative dosage

Sewage treatment sludge

~1 L / t DS

Typical dose around 1 L per tonne of dry solids. Usual range: 0.8 to 3 L/TDS. Adjusted to substrate, odour intensity and observed results.

Animal manure

~1 L / t DM

Assess dry matter content and aim for homogeneous contact with the mass. Dosage to be adjusted for ongoing fresh manure accumulation.

Surface treatment

3–5%

Diluted solution applicable on sludge surfaces to reduce nuisances during operations such as transport or handling.

Available pack sizes

Enviro-Chem AG is available in 20 L containers for trials and small volumes, in 200 L drums for regular operations, and in 1000 L IBCs for large-scale treatment or permanent installations.

Important considerations

Contact with the mass being treated is essential to product effectiveness.

The deodorising effect may take several days in heavily loaded environments.

Dosage depends on the substrate, dry matter content and observed odour intensity.

Results should be monitored and dosage adjusted to actual site conditions.

Application example — slurry pit spraying

Enviro-Chem AG application can be adapted to site geometry, slurry volume, ventilation mode, odour level and measured results. The example below illustrates an indicative spray configuration on a large-area slurry pit.

  • Indicative example — slurry pit of 800 m², approx. 66 m × 12 m.
  • Configuration: 2 zones of 11 sprayers, 22 sprayers in total.
  • Spray pressure: 310 kPa (~3.1 bar). Duration: 4 minutes every 8 hours per zone.
  • North zone: 00:00, 08:00, 16:00 — South zone: 04:00, 12:00, 20:00.
  • Total spray time: 24 minutes per day.
  • Product dosed at approx. 0.11 kg/min, mixed with ~226 volumes of water (dilution ~0.44%).
  • Indicative consumption: approx. 2.65 kg of product per day.
  • To be adapted on site — parameters must be adjusted based on odour level, available measurements and observed results.
